SONY Interactive Entertainment, the gaming unit of SONY Corp, said it would buy video game software maker Bungie for $3.6 billion.Bungie is based in Washington state and employs more than 900 people, according to Jiemian.com.Founded in 1991, it was acquired by Microsoft in 2000. In 2001, it launched Halo, which is the most important Xbox game brand of Microsoft to this day.Bungie split from Microsoft in 2007 and signed a 10-year publishing deal with Activision Blizzard in 2010 to launch the Destiny shooter series. In 2019, Bungie split with Activision Blizzard early.
